ZIPPI’s Life Story.

ZIPPI BAGS first started it’s life as a fleeting thought in the brain of a ‘Costume on-set Standby’, someone who's usually working tirelessly behind the scenes on busy days, with many principal actors and supporting artists.

The costume department, though pretty organised, were dealing with a mishmash of bags – some too small, others falling apart and nowhere to keep the jewellery and accessories in check - and let's not forget about those labels that seemed to have a knack for getting torn or misplaced.

It got the standby thinking, "There's got to be a simpler way to sort out these clothes and accessories for the characters. Costume shouldn't be this complicated."

Fast forward a couple of years, and our costume standby found herself working on a famous soap opera during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The game changed dramatically in the costume world – no one, not even costumes or people, could enter dressing rooms. This called for some real inventiveness to keep clothing clean and hygienic. "Now, more than ever," she thought, "there's a need for the perfect garment bag."

Having used various alternative options throughout her career, she couldn't find one that ticked all the boxes. There were those wasteful plastic rolls, the canvas bags that made it impossible to see what's inside, and the cheap PVC bags that seemed to have a thing for breaking zips or splitting open if you put more than one pair of knickers inside…

The Costume Standby then became a Costume Supervisor… and that's when she saw her chance to test her idea in action. After two years of designing, testing, and learning from a few hiccups along the way, ZIPPI BAGS were finally born.

ZIPPI BAGS are unlike anything else out there. They are purpose-built for the industry and it's been called so perfect for the job that it “practically sells itself”…
